Fried Tomato Burger

Ingredients

  • 1 medium tomato
  • fried artichokes batter recipe
  • oil for frying
  • Batter
  • 1/2 cup of cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup of all purpose flour or white spelt
  • 1 T. of granulated garlic
  • 1 tsp. of granulated onion
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1 tsp of pepper
  • Louisiana hot sauce
  • oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a 10 inch fry pan heat about a 1/4 inch of oil to medium heat. Cut tomatoes into 2 thick slices. Add tomatoes to batter and cover well. Place coated tomatoes in oil fry until batter is golden brown. Drain tomatoes and place on buns.

  3. Sauce
  4. 1/2 cup of vegetarian mayonnaise
  5. 1/2 cup of vegetarian ketchup
  6. 2 T. of hot sauce
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1/4 tsp. of ancho chili powder
  9. Combine all ingredients. Spoon over tomatoes and bread.

Notes

* One tomato per person. Vegans eliminate sauce or use vegan mayo
